The 48 Hour Film Project

So Asheville, along with many other cities around the world, is hosting an annual 48 Hour Film Project. Each year teams of filmmakers take over the city for a weekend to make short films. The basic idea is this: At 7pm on Friday they give everyone their own genre and the same three basic requirements: a line of dialogue, a prop, and a character name. These things have to be in the film. Then you get 48 hours to write, film, edit, compose music, etc,. and turn it in. During the days following, all the films get screened at a local movie theater. I am in love with this whole idea. As most of you know, once upon a time I went to film school and got some sort of a degree/education in film/video production. It's time to do it.

I have a small team assembled. It'll be enough if it has to be, but anyone else at all who wants to help is more than welcome. I'd love two more folks that have any kind of experience in film and or video production.

Lastly. We still need some equipment and are short on money. And since I just found out about this project, and it is a month away, we are short on time. So instead of organize any kind of fundraiser, we're just hoping for a bunch of small donations. I figure if 40 people donate $10-$20 we can have enough to cover our needs. If you are curious about the kind of stuff we are gathering money for, you can see a list here. No donation is too small--it's not like we're trying to raise millions. Even five dollars is a helpful contribution.
